Who is Controlling your PC?
It is getting creepier and creepier knowing that Botnets are on the rise. More and more PCs are being infected of Bots and trojans lurking in your PC without you knowing it. It is estimated that a quarter of all PCs currently connected to the Internet (around 150 million) could be infected by Trojans that hiddenly seize control of a computer and its internet connection.
What is more terrifying is the controls of these PCs are being sold to criminals in the Internet. They are being used to launch massive attacks on the internet, just like what happened during the February 2, 2007 attack on the root DNS servers worldwide (Botnets for sale)
This is a demonstration of how powerful they can be, using botnets to attack powerful and highly redundant servers. What more if it is being launched to attack a corporate private server? This could be used by a competitor company to put the web services of another one to a halt. With so much competition in worldwide markets, this would pose a ‘world war’ of botnets targeting each same industry competition.
The security industry should join hands in this case to prevent such ala-nuclear type cyber-weapons.
