Biometric Way of Remote Access
A new way of accessing your corporate files is now available by the use of your fingerprint. A new device called AccessStick from EPAFactory.com enables a USB device and your fingerprint as method of authentication for remote access through SSL VPN.
We usually use a secureid token and we input PIN digit numbers to a VPN software. With the use of AccessStick, there will be no prompt and no keying-in of passwords. It looks easier, since you just have to insert the USB AccessStick and swipe your finger to authenticate.
I noted that it also has the advantage of less burden for administration, as there is no installation of local files into the computer. It is more secure since after removing the AccessStick, the cache files are also removed, leaving no footprints from your browsing or from your transactions from that PC.
User experience will be improved, besides no-keying and remembering of PIN/passwords, it also has the benefit of single sign-on.
